Do I need a referral?
Yes. A referral from a healthcare provider is required. Without one, ACC or your private health insurer may decline to cover the cost of your consultation or treatment.
What Happens At The First Appointment?
During your consultation, Matthew will discuss your symptoms and medical history, conduct an examination, and review any available imaging. If further investigations are required, he will arrange the appropriate referrals. Together, you will discuss treatment options - both non-surgical and surgical - so you can make an informed decision about your care.
What do I bring?
Please bring any information relevant to your injury or condition, including details of any previous treatments or surgeries. If you have had any imaging, please let us know where this was completed, as we can usually access it electronically. If your appointment relates to an ACC claim, please have your claim number available.
Is there a consultation fee?
If your injury is covered by ACC and you have an approved ACC claim number, there is no charge for your consultation.
If you are insured with Southern Cross, we can usually process your consultation fee directly through your policy. Patients with other private health insurers may be required to pay on the day and will be provided with a receipt to submit a claim to their insurer.
For all other patients, payment is required at the time of your appointment.
Can I Bring Someone With Me To My Appointment?
Yes, absolutely. You are welcome to bring a partner, family member, or friend for support. If English is not your first language, we recommend bringing someone who can assist with translation. Alternatively, an interpreter can be arranged with advance notice (additional charges will apply).
